Decision Technologies seeks a qualified AN/SPY-6(V) Training Instructor to join our team in Dahlgren, Virginia

Position Description:

The AN/SPY6(V) Radar Training Instructor provides advanced technical instruction, curriculum development, and operational support for sailors training on the SPY6 family of radars at Aegis Training and Readiness Center (ATRC) Dahlgren. This position ensures fleet personnel are fully prepared to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the radar system in accordance with Navy standards and evolving tactical requirements. The instructor supports both classroom and handson laboratory environments and collaborates closely with ATRC, NAVSEA, and fleet stakeholders to deliver highquality, relevant training.

MUST HAVE Secret clearance

Responsibilities and Duties:

* Deliver formal classroom instruction on SPY6(V) radar theory, system architecture, maintenance procedures, and operational employment.

* Conduct handson laboratory training using SPY6(V) training devices, systems, or simulations.

* Facilitate operator and maintainer qualification events and evaluate student performance.

* Develop, update, and maintain training materials, lesson plans, student guides, and technical documentation.

* Provide subject matter expertise (SME) regarding SPY6(V) capabilities, limitations, system behaviors, and best practices.

* Support course modernization activities, including integration of new fleet tactics, system updates, and configuration changes.

* Ensure training aligns with ATRC, Fleet Training Continuum, and NAVSEA requirements.

* Participate in technical working groups, curriculum reviews, and configuration control boards as required.

* Conduct troubleshooting demonstrations and guide students through fault isolation processes.

* Maintain compliance with applicable Navy instructions, security protocols, and safety standards.

* Provide feedback to leadership regarding student readiness, course effectiveness, and recommendations for improvement.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

* U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance (or higher, depending on role).

* Comprehensive knowledge of AN/SPY6(V) radar systems, architecture, and operational employment.

* Experience in Navy radar operations, maintenance, or combat systems (fleet, government, or industry).

* Prior instructional experience or demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

* Strong understanding of Aegis Combat System components and their integration with SPY6 radar.

* Ability to analyze technical data, interpret system behavior, and guide students through troubleshooting logic.

* Proficiency with Navy training systems, lab equipment, and simulation tools.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills.

* Ability to work collaboratively with ATRC instructors, technical authorities, and Navy leadership.

Desired Qualifications:

* Navy Master Training Specialist (MTS) qualification.

* Experience as an Aegis SPY technician or Aegis Fire Controlman (FCC/FCS).

* Experience supporting ATRC, NSWC Dahlgren, NAVSEA, or Integrated Combat Systems (ICS).

* Familiarity with SPY6(V)1/V2/V3/V4 variants and configuration differences or Family of Radar (FoR) experience

* Background with radar performance analysis, electromagnetic theory, or sensor employment in maritime environments.

* Experience with training content development tools (e.g., AIM, CPM, IMI courseware).

* Associate's degree, Navy NECs, CSEDS Training, BMD

* Prior fleet or training command instructor experience
