About the Job

The University of Minnesota Twin Cities is seeing a highly motivated Communications Coordinator to join our team in the Office of Admissions on a temporary basis from July 2026 through March 2027! The selected candidate will join a high-octane office to help recruit the next cohort of Future Gophers through a variety of communications strategies and tactics. This position will be posted until filled, with the selected candidate starting as soon as possible, and a desired start date no later than July 27, 2026.

This role is hybrid, based on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. On-site work will be needed occasionally to support marketing materials management and occasional training. Work hours are typically between Monday - Friday and the successful candidate will work with their manager to finalize a core schedule.

Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.

Duties and Responsibilities

As the Marketing Communications Coordinator, this position manages day-to-day operations related to marketing and communications in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as outlined below. This position is temporary, and will be filled as a seven-month temporary contract, which will run from July 27, 2026-March 1, 2027.

Depending on experience, the leading candidate may be considered for a higher level, Pro 3 position.

This position reports to the Senior Associate Director of Communications.

Work includes, but is not limited to:

Coordination (60%)

  • Quality Assurance: Manage the process and implementation for communications across the communications unit. Includes checking for typos, audience review, system set-up.
    • Key points coordination: Ensure timely updates and training for public-facing staff; Includes updating of key stats and facts to inform larger marketing updates
    • Managing assigned communications:
  • Manage and implement operational communications to ensure accurate and timely messages are delivered regarding a student's admissions application.
  • Manage assigned topics related to enrollment, after admission, including but not limited to housing, international communications and others as needed.
    • Strategic project management and calendar alignment: Work across units in the Customer Experience and Communications team to ensure top projects are moving along and issues or barriers are identified and mitigated.
    • Budget review and alignment with communications director: Includes collaboration with team members to forecast spending and confirm details in budget reports
    • Website updates: Will handle basic updates related to annual stats, facts and related content; approve content provided by team members as needed.

Marketing material management (30%)

  • Marketing material inventory management: ensures marketing materials are in stock
  • Material order review: Along with the Senior Associate Director of Communications, reviews and approves staff orders prior to fulfillment to ensure timely delivery for staff prior to recruitment and event use. May need to fulfill orders depending on situation.
  • Coordinate purchasing branded marketing materials: Works with public-facing members of the office to coordinate development and production of branded merchandise to use in our recruitment efforts, within a set budget. Also works with printers for those materials to get them printed and delivered in a timely manner.

Team support (10%)

  • Communications project support: Help set up and implement key steps of communication projects in coordination with communications strategic lead and office stakeholders to ensure streamlined marketing communications operations.
  • Manage and monitor communications operational calendar: to ensure timely preparation and implementation of operational communications in support of enrollment management decisions and actions.
  • Communications team onboard training schedule management: for new professional staff and annual training as needed.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Requires BA/BS in communications, public relations, marketing, business, or related industries with at least 2 years of related experience (or 4 years for a Pro 3 consideration) or relevant work experience to equal six years (eight years for a Pro 3 Consideration);
  • Demonstrated communications industry project management skills managing multi-layered work, teams and considerations
  • Demonstrated excellent editing and proofreading skills
  • Demonstrated detail management, excellent follow-through and quality work practices
  • Experience in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or Content Management System (CMS)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Slate
  • Experience in higher education
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $26.44 - $30.77 per hour (Pro 2); $30.77-$32.21 (Pro 3) per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment, 7 month (Temporary)
