The International Studies Office (ISO) is currently accepting applications for an Education Abroad Advisor and Program Manager. The ISO is a division of UVA Global, a University-wide resource which contributes to UVA's global mission through activities, programs and services designed to support the development of a globally aware education and research environment. Through the International Students and Scholars Program, UVA Education Abroad, the Lorna Sundberg International Center, and Center for American English Language and Culture, the ISO provides expertise and infrastructure to help expand and sustain global education at the University of Virginia. Responsibilities
The Education Abroad Advisor & Program Managerwill report to the Associate Director for Education Abroad. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Experience: 3+ years of relevant professional experience required, to include student advising or program coordination. Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates are required to possess knowledge of principles and issues of study abroad advising. Candidates must also possess strong oral and written communication skills, including intercultural and interpersonal communication. The ability to interact with study abroad program representatives, colleagues in other offices, faculty, and students in a highly professional manner with an understanding of protocol and confidentiality is essential. Evidence of strong organizational, administrative, and computer/digital skills is required. Knowledge of NAFSA: Association of International Educators professional ethics and competencies is desirable along with knowledge of the Forum on Education Abroad Standards of Good Practice. Physical Demands This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. The hiring range is $57,000-$60,000, commensurate with education and experience. This is an exempt-level, benefited position. Learn more about UVA benefits.
