Job Summary

We are seeking experienced Fiber Technicians to support long-term commercial and hyperscale data center infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for installing, terminating, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic and structured cabling systems while ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have advanced fiber optic experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to travel extensively while working in physically demanding environments.

Job Responsibilities




  • Install fiber optic cabling in commercial buildings and hyperscale data centers.



  • Route, dress, secure, and label fiber and copper cabling throughout facilities.



  • Build and maintain cable pathways, including J-hooks, D-rings, ladder racks, and cable trays.



  • Perform advanced fiber terminations using Single-Mode and Multi-Mode fiber with LC, SC, ST, FC, MPO/MTP, and other connector types.



  • Perform fusion and mechanical splicing on indoor, OSP, loose tube, and tight-buffered fiber optic cable.



  • Test, certify, and troubleshoot fiber optic systems using OTDR and Fluke DTX/DSX test equipment.



  • Calculate and validate fiber loss budgets for Single-Mode and Multi-Mode systems.



  • Troubleshoot fiber and copper cabling faults, including opens, shorts, transposed pairs, attenuation issues, and connectivity problems.



  • Install and terminate copper cabling, including CAT3/CAT5 cabling, 110/66 blocks, and perform continuity testing.



  • Construct telecommunications rooms, including racks, backboards, patch panels, grounding systems, hardware installation, and cable management in accordance with TIA/EIA and IES standards.



  • Install Wireless Access Points (WAPs).



  • Read and interpret blueprints, installation drawings, and project documentation.



  • Complete work orders, testing documentation, labeling, job logs, and timesheets accurately and on schedule.



  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following OSHA and company safety standards.



  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, supervisors, and team members to complete projects safely and on schedule.




Job Requirements




  • Minimum 2 years of structured cabling and fiber optic installation experience.



  • Experience supporting commercial and hyperscale data center projects preferred.



  • Advanced experience terminating LC, SC, ST, FC, MPO/MTP, and other fiber connector types across Single-Mode and Multi-Mode systems.



  • Hands-on experience performing fusion and mechanical splicing on indoor, OSP, loose tube, and tight-buffered fiber.



  • Proficiency using OTDR and Fluke DTX/DSX testing equipment to certify installations and troubleshoot network issues.



  • Experience installing and terminating copper cabling, including CAT3/CAT5, 110/66 blocks, and continuity testing.



  • Knowledge of TIA/EIA and IES standards for structured cabling and telecommunications infrastructure.



  • Experience building telecommunications closets, including racks, patch panels, grounding systems, backboards, hardware, and cable management.



  • Ability to calculate and validate fiber loss budgets for system acceptance.



  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.



  • Ability to accurately complete documentation, work orders, test results, labeling, and job logs.



  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.



  • Scissor Lift certification preferred.



  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, at heights, above ceilings, and in confined spaces.



  • Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds.



  • Must provide basic hand tools and required personal protective equipment, including steel or composite toe boots and gloves.



  • Must be willing to travel full time based on project requirements.



  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Current schedule is six 12-hour shifts per week (Monday through Saturday), with plans to transition to six 10-hour shifts as additional team members are added.



  • Travel schedule consists of approximately four consecutive weeks onsite followed by a long weekend at home (Friday through Sunday), returning to the project site on Monday.



  • Position requires full-time travel to project locations and the ability to work in physically demanding field environments.
