Position Overview
Our client is seeking a licensed attorney with demonstrated experience applying federal civil rights statutes to support a federal government program reviewing complaints, investigations, and compliance matters. The ideal candidate has experience analyzing complex legal issues, preparing written legal findings, and applying federal statutes and regulations in an investigative or administrative environment. Experience involving First Amendment issues is highly desirable.

Required Qualifications



  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active bar license in good standing in any U.S. state or territory
  • Experience supporting litigation, investigations, administrative law, compliance, or civil rights matters
  • Demonstrated experience applying federal civil rights statutes, including Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Age Discrimination Act
  • Strong legal writing experience, including memoranda, investigative reports, case evaluations, dismissal letters, or legal recommendations
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience involving First Amendment issues or constitutional law
  • Prior experience supporting a federal agency, Office for Civil Rights (OCR), Office of Inspector General (OIG), or similar government legal or administrative review function



Key Responsibilities



  • Review complaints, allegations, and supporting documentation to determine appropriate case disposition
  • Conduct legal and factual analysis of investigations and compliance matters
  • Research and interpret federal laws, regulations, and agency policies
  • Draft legal memoranda, investigative summaries, correspondence, reports, and recommendations
  • Maintain accurate case files, documentation, and supporting records
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders to obtain information and clarify case details
  • Support quality assurance efforts to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of work
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting established deadlines


Handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with applicable laws and agency policies
