Requirements



  • Minimum of five years of related customer service experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, such as a bachelor's degree plus one year of related experience
  • Previous accounts receivable or billing experience
  • College-level coursework or a degree in business administration or a related field
  • Experience using an automated, integrated online billing or receivables system
  • Ability to interpret and apply established account policies, procedures, and practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook or equivalent software
  • Experience using email, electronic calendars, internet search engines, and web-based applications
  • Ability to create and edit documents using moderately advanced word-processing features
  • Strong basic mathematical skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and University of California regulations governing student records
  • Ability to interpret and follow the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize a fluctuating workload
  • Ability to manage frequent interruptions and changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse groups using tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to communicate patiently and courteously with difficult individuals
  • Strong listening skills and commitment to excellent customer service


Job Duties



  • Assist customers with billing, account, and accounts receivable inquiries
  • Review and interpret account information using an online billing and receivables system
  • Apply established policies, procedures, and practices to customer accounts
  • Perform calculations and verify account information for accuracy
  • Create, edit, and maintain documents, correspondence, and account records
  • Use Microsoft Office and web-based applications to complete daily assignments
  • Research and gather information using approved online resources
  • Communicate with students, customers, and university personnel by phone and email
  • Respond to questions patiently, professionally, and courteously
  • Protect confidential student and account information
  • Interpret and apply FERPA and other applicable regulations
  • Organize and prioritize assignments in a frequently changing environment
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve account issues and achieve department goals
  • Deliver customer service focused on effective resolutions and outcomes
