Included is access to the fitness centers with state-of-the-art equipment, shuttle transportation, and a competitive pay rate based upon experience Department Description UCSF Fitness and Recreation inspires growth and health on the UCSF campus through fitness, community, and play. The Group Fitness unit is an integral part of Fitness and Recreation and provides customer service while ensuring participants participate in Group Fitness instruction in a safe environment. The Group Fitness Instructor works under direct supervision of the Group Fitness Manager and is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations of the Fitness unit, which includes customer service, creating and following lesson plans and providing quality instruction to all program participants. UCSF Fitness and Recreation operates two fitness centers at UCSF. We provide fitness and wellbeing services to UCSF students, faculty, staff and community members through a broad range of fitness, recreation, aquatics, personal training, outdoor programs, and health and wellness programs. Required Qualifications
- American Red Cross CPR
- Specialty certification where applicable (Les Mills, Spinning, Yoga, Pilates mat, Barre,Tai Chi, Feldenkrais, QiGong)
- Working knowledge of program activity practices and procedures.
- Verbal and written communication skills in the English language, active listening, dynamic flexibility, critical thinking, multi-task and time management skills.
- Ability to exercise independent sound judgment and employ reasoning skills.
- Client service minded, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills.
- Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Nationally recognized Group Exercise instructor certification
- One year of experience as a Group Exercise instructor
- Knowledge of campus policies and procedures.
- Basic skills in computer programs relevant to job duties.
