| Position Summary |
The Therapeutic Horticulture Program Assistant will help with the administrative components and the delivery of the Hybrid Certificate in Therapeutic Horticulture offered through the North Carolina Botanical Garden in partnership with NC State Extension, including supporting course instructors with class management and technical support. This position will work closely with faculty and program staff to support adult learners from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds in their engagement with therapeutic horticulture. This position will also assist in data collection for Therapeutic Horticulture related research projects being conducted through
UNC. The Therapeutic Horticulture Program Assistant may also have the opportunity to assist with or lead Therapeutic Horticulture programming in the community as contracts and time allows. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Management Preferences |
- Experience with (or interest in) therapeutic horticulture or horticultural therapy.
- Comfort with using and supporting others in digital learning platforms (e.g., Moodle, Padlet, Canvas, Zoom, Google Drive).
- Strong communication, time management, or organizational skills with ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Direct practice experience volunteering or working in therapeutic horticulture or horticultural therapy settings. |
| Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
The ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods. Duties to be performed with or without accommodation. |
| Campus Security Authority Responsibilities |
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities. |
