Description
The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care, one of only four academic prehospital care centers in the nation, is a national leader in EMS education, training, and certification. The ACLS, PALS, and NRP Instructor provides high-quality classroom and skills-based instruction in accordance with American Heart Association Community Training Center standards for UCLA Health and the broader healthcare community. Responsibilities include delivering lectures and hands-on training, fostering an engaging learning environment, assessing learner performance, ensuring course objectives are met, and supporting curriculum development and program quality improvement. This is a 25% per diem position, may convert to career Salary: $33.96 - $69.54 hourly
Qualifications
Required:
- AHS BLS Provider & Instructor Certification
- Current certification as an EMT, Paramedic, RT, RN, PA, MD.
- Baccalaureate degree in health-related field, nursing, health care administration, health care education, emergency medical services or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of one (1) year work experience on an ambulance or in a hospital emergency department.
- Current provider certification in BLS, ACLS or PALS or NRP from the American Heart Association.
- Current instructor certification from the American Heart Association in ACLS or PALS or NRP. (must be obtained within 6 months of employment).
- Completion of NAEMSE/NHTSA EMS educator course, Firefighter IA/IB, American Heart Association "Core" instructor course (must be obtained within 6 months of employment).
- Detailed knowledge and experience in the application and techniques of clinical equipment and supplies.
- Working knowledge of the different scopes of practices for EMTs, paramedics, registered nurses, and physicians.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to translate complex concepts into understandable parts
- Available to work evenings, holidays, and/or weekends.
- Ability to foster a stimulating classroom environment.
- Skill in working independently and following through with minimal direction.
- Skill in working as part of a team collaborating with colleagues.
- Valid unrestricted California drivers' license. Available to drive personal vehicle to off campus locations for contract instructional assignments or special projects.
- Ability to provide service-oriented customer assistance in a professional and courteous manner.
- Interpersonal skills to excel in relations supervisor, staff, students, and the public.
