Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Assistant.The NYU Department of Pediatrics is seeking a project assistant (temporary-per diem) to assist with research projects for the Starting Early program. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate pursuing a career in healthcare or public health.
Job Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and enrollment: Contact eligible participants from the Prenatal Starting Early mHealth cohort to assess interest in participating in the 1-year follow-up assessment. Explain study procedures, answer participant questions, and enroll interested families in the extension.
- Assessment completion: Schedule and conduct follow-up assessments with participants, administering questionnaires and recording responses directly in REDCap.
- Tracking and documentation: Maintain accurate records of participant recruitment, enrollment, assessment completion, and follow-up activities using study tracking systems and established protocols.
- Incentive distribution: Facilitate participant incentive distribution in accordance with study protocols, including in-person visits with participants in outpatient clinic as needed.
- Medical record review: Conduct chart reviews in Epic to collect relevant study data, including social history, well-child visits, and other clinical information.
- Medical record request: Assist with obtaining medical records by following up with participants regarding HIPAA authorization forms and communicating with outside healthcare providers to request and obtain relevant clinical records for study purposes.
Professional Development:
- Attend weekly meetings with principal investigators and/or key team members to discuss study progress.
- Receive mentorship and guidance from professionals in the field.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalent. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office 365 Strong analytical ability, critical thinking, and proactive problem-solving skills Must be organized, detailed-orientated, dependable and flexible Have excellent oral/written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding design and implementation Preferred Qualifications: Strong desire to obtain knowledge in aspects of conducting clinical research. Student enrolled in a relevant field of study at an academic institution for the duration of their internship. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be fluent in Spanish (spoken, reading and writing). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
