The Staten Island Ferry Division is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Clerical IV to serve as Executive Assistant to the Assistant Commissioner of Ferry Engineering. This position plays a key role in supporting the administrative and operational functions of the division and requires strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. The selected candidate will provide executive-level administrative support to the Assistant Commissioner and the entire Ferry Engineering Unit. The candidate will maintain and organize files, reports, and official records. The candidate will assist in tracking and managing of Unit Capital and Expense budgets. The role requires preparing and editing technical and administrative documents, including contract specifications, correspondence, and other administrative and technical documents. Responsibilities also include monitoring and maintaining contract documentation and reports related to ongoing operations required in accordance with Unit, Department, and City procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred qualifications include advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams); knowledge of New York City budgeting, contracting, and procurement processes; and strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both internal personnel and departments and external stakeholders, such as suppliers/vendors and governmental agencies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

TWIC REQUIREMENT: Once selected for employment at the Staten Island Ferry, federal regulations require that the applicant must either undergo a federal background check as part of the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program or already possess a TWIC. Minimum Qualifications
Qualification Requirements A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience. Skills Requirement Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
Preferred Skills

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
