Job Summary:

NIH-funded postdoctoral positions in cancer immunotherapy are immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Richard Tobin, in the Department of Surgery at University of Colorado School of Medicine. The main research of the lab focuses on engineering novel unconventional immune cell subsets to enhance tumor immunity. Dr. Tobin's lab has several exciting research projects with the potential of clinical applications in cancer immunotherapy.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals who have obtained a PhD degree in immunology, cancer biology, or a related field. The successful candidates should have independent research skills and demonstrate a track record of success in the laboratory. Candidates with experience in mouse tumor models, T cell culture, and flow cytometry are encouraged to apply. The candidate will have the opportunity to interact and collaborate with the rich community of basic and translational scientists at CU School of Medicine, as well as a team of surgical oncologists. Salary and benefits are in line with the NIH guideline.

Key Responsibilities:

* Perform designated research projects independently; document, acquire, and analyze experimental research in a timely manner; write experimental protocols and prepare manuscripts for publication.

* Actively participate in lab meetings and group meetings; meet the supervisor weekly to discuss research progresses.

* Assist lab manager with lab maintenance on a daily base.

* Teach and train junior lab members whenever possible.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

* 0 years of post-doctoral experience

* PhD in immunology, cancer biology, bioengineering or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with rodent models and human specimens

* Basic molecular biology and cell culture skills.

* First-authored research papers published in peer-reviewed journals.

* Independent experience designing and conducting experiments with tumor models, T cell culture, flow cytometry acquisition and analysis, immunohistochemistry, fluorescence microscopy.

* Demonstrate a track record of success in the laboratory.

* Background in immunology

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and general communication skills.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal skills.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • General knowledge of Office suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic understanding of statistical analysis and programs.
