Job Summary

The R&D Technician supports laboratory testing, product development, and device characterization activities through the execution of experiments and generation of accurate, high-quality scientific data. This role performs hands-on laboratory testing, sample preparation, equipment operation, data collection, and documentation while supporting verification testing, process development, and product characterization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, scientifically curious, and committed to producing reliable, reproducible results while collaborating effectively with engineers, scientists, and cross-functional teams in a regulated laboratory environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Perform hands-on laboratory testing in support of research and development activities.
  • Prepare samples, set up laboratory equipment, and execute test protocols according to established procedures.
  • Support in vitro preclinical testing activities by following laboratory protocols and documenting results.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory and testing equipment.
  • Collect, document, organize, and maintain accurate experimental data and laboratory records.
  • Analyze experimental results and identify trends, observations, and potential issues.
  • Assist with device characterization, verification testing, and process development activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, study plans, protocols, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and equipment readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and technicians to support project objectives and product development.
  • Assist with laboratory testing across multiple facilities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements



  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in a laboratory, research and development, testing, manufacturing, biotechnology, medical device, or related technical environment; or a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Hands-on experience performing laboratory testing and experimental execution.
  • Experience supporting in vitro preclinical testing preferred.
  • Experience operating laboratory or testing equipment.
  • Ability to collect, document, and organize experimental data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience interpreting experimental results and identifying trends.
  • Ability to follow written procedures, laboratory protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Strong written communication and technical documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis.
  • Ability to quickly learn new laboratory techniques, methods, and technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with a commitment to producing reliable, reproducible, and well-documented results.
  • Willingness to travel between local laboratory facilities as needed.


Education



  • Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field may be substituted for experience.


Work Experience



  • Experience supporting laboratory testing, product development, research and development, or device characterization activities preferred.
  • Experience in a regulated laboratory environment preferred.
  • Experience with medical device, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or related industries preferred.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, study documentation, or laboratory protocols is preferred.
