DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports electrical operations by installing, repairing, and maintaining systems and equipment throughout the facility. As a Electrician 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Electrical Installation: Install, alter, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures
  • Problem Diagnosis: Locate power failures and short circuits to restore proper function
  • System Upgrades: Replace circuit breakers and run new electrical lines as needed
  • Fixture Work: Install wire, lighting fixtures, switches, receptacles, and ballasts
  • Equipment Handling: Install and service air conditioners and prepare material lists for assigned jobs
  • Blueprint Reading: Read blueprints and lay out electrical conduit for lighting and power

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours/week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime may be required as necessary.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
