The Driver will safely deliver trucks and buses on a timely schedule as directed to customers. This role must be performed while strictly adhering to company safety regulations, federal guidelines, and state laws. The Driver is responsible for vehicle inspections, basic cargo security, and maintaining clean driving records.
Mid-level position - Generally has three years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. Has moderate knowledge of the field's standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is indirectly supervised and self-starting.
The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development.

Key Responsibilities

* Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
* Responds to company needs in a positive, caring manner while striving for prompt, accurate and efficient transport of all buses
* Secures materials and vehicles on transport equipment, ensuring they meet state and federal guidelines for safe transport and vehicle weight capabilities
* Successfully passes inspections through D.O.T. mobile and fixed scale locations
* Transport School Bus by operating buses safely under diverse weather and traffic conditions
* Adheres to the schedule and maintains strict route timetables without compromising safety
* Conducts vehicle inspections to include daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety checks, making recommendations for repair or maintenance
* Report incidents by communicating clearly with dispatch and complete factual logs or accident reports

* Upkeeps the Fleet by maintaining the basic cleanliness of the vehicle interior throughout the shift
* Completes D.O.T. required drivers daily log accurately and without misrepresentation, and must not have more than three moving violations within a twelve-month period
* Meet all state requirements and all HOLT safety and health guidelines, as monitored by yearly management records
* Travels to assigned branch locations and operates out of those sites for multiple consecutive days or weeks as required
* Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
* Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
* Performs other duties as assigned


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

* Demonstrated knowledge of heavy industrial engines, transportation logistics, and safe driving procedures
* Knowledge and understanding of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and DOT guidelines
* Proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
* Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
* Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
* Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small objects
* Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
* Quality control analysis skills - conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
* Operation and control skills - controlling operations of equipment or systems
* Ability to read maps and operate GPS systems
* Ability to maintain a clean driver's record and diligent attention to safety
* Ability to stay calm and manage unexpected route delays or traffic stress
* The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
* The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
* Strong verbal communication skills to interact positively with the public
Education and Experience:
* High school or equivalent diploma preferred
* Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience professional commercial passenger driving experience required
* Ability to pass a DOT physical and routine drug screenings
* Driver must be qualified and certified for vehicle operation to include:
o Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B, to include the ability to maintain the valid Driver's License
o Passenger (P) endorsement and Air Brake clearance required
o Clean DMV record with no recent major moving violations or at-fault accidents required

* None
Travel:
* Travel up to 100%
Physical Requirements:
* Must be able to remain in a stationary position 100% of the time
* Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
* Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
* Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
* Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climb up and down ladders using a three-point contact method
* Be able to safely maneuver and work underneath equipment
* Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and traffic hazards
* Is required to visually inspect work
Work Environment:
* Requires working in a closed commercial vehicle or equipment for extended periods of time
* Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
* Requires working outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions including extreme conditions such as heavy rain, wind, or excessive temperatures
* Includes exposure to highway noise, distracting engine sounds, and vibrations
* Occasional exposure to small quantities of vehicle chemicals, fluids, steam, and high-pressure water
