Under general supervision of the Parking Manager/Supervisor, this position will perform a variety of job functions within the Transportation Department. The primary job functions include valet, customer service ambassador, garage rover, traffic director and parking enforcement officer.

The incumbent will act in accordance with departmental procedures and standards for the department's daily operations and procedures set forth in the Transportation Department Operations manual. The incumbent will also act as an ambassador and/or greeter for Transportation programs and services as needed.

Incumbent must be willing to work at any assigned UCSF location on short notice and must be able to work overtime as needed.

Parking Representative Duties:

Perform in a manner consistent with all department and University policies and procedures

Issue claim checks and collect parking fees for cashier/valet operations and/or special events, according to established departmental policies and procedures

Assist with facility maintenance and cleaning projects

Operate University assigned vehicles

Provide break coverage for other Parking Representatives as needed

Perform as a valet, customer service ambassador, garage/lot rover, or traffic director as needed

Assist with jumpstarts and vehicle lockouts

Complete administrative duties as needed

Provide exceptional customer service in an attentive, friendly, and efficient manner

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-year valet and/or related parking industry work experience
  • High School diploma/GED or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Ability to read, write, perform mathematical calculations, follow verbal and written instructions, and six months of related experience, preferably in public contact work, and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position; Ability to operate manual, automatic, and electric vehicles in and out of tight parking spaces quickly and efficiently
  • Possess basic computer skills for valet operations administrative duties
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner with the public, faculty, staff, and co-workers and to function well under period of stress.
  • Demonstrated record of exceptional attendance, punctuality, and excellent customer service.
  • Act in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and standards

Required Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Valid California Driver's License and an excellent driving record required; no license restrictions other than for corrective lenses (applicants are required to present a current copy of their DMV record with their application/resume).Class C with CA DMW H6 Driving Record Report

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience working in a health or medical center related environment

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
