Job Description

Applications are invited for a Sr. Research Specialist in the Balboula Lab at the University of Missouri. The Balboula's laboratory uses mouse oocytes as a model system to understand basic molecular mechanisms that regulate meiosis I in order to understand why female gametes are notoriously error-prone.

The candidate will conduct research using state-of-the-art approaches including the use of transgenic mouse models, genetic constructs, laser ablation and cutting-edge imaging technologies to investigate molecular mechanisms regulating spindle assembly and positioning during meiosis I.

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 5:00 p.m. occasional nights and weekends

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

* Hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or an equivalent degree) at the time of appointment.
* Have a background in Reproductive Biology, Cell Biology or Genetics.
* Have demonstrated experience in DNA damage repair in mammalian oocytes.
* Be self-motivated, well-organized, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and enjoy working as part of a dynamic and collaborative team.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $53,976.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Grade: GGS 9E
