Quality Coordinator - Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital At Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, the Quality Coordinator plays an important role in supporting the organization's performance improvement and quality initiatives. This position helps coordinate the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of hospital-wide performance improvement activities while supporting compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. The Quality Coordinator works closely with physicians, clinical departments, hospital leadership, and staff to identify performance trends, analyze quality data, facilitate improvement initiatives, and promote safe, high-quality patient care. Reporting to the Director of Quality Resource Services, the Quality Coordinator serves as a resource for staff and physicians on performance improvement, quality indicators, accreditation requirements, and organizational compliance. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives, value-based care efforts, patient safety, and continuous improvement across the hospital. A typical day for a Quality Coordinator may include:
- Coordinating hospital-wide performance improvement activities related to strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and departmental goals
- Assisting departments with the development of performance improvement indicators and analyzing collected data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Providing general oversight and maintenance of quality monitoring activities, including variance screening, mortality reviews, quality indicators, surgical and invasive procedure monitoring, scorecards, and dashboards
- Coordinating departmental annual performance improvement appraisals and maintaining accurate minutes and supporting documentation
- Scheduling Quality/Performance Improvement meetings, preparing agendas and reports, and ensuring meeting minutes are completed accurately and on time
- Providing consultative support to RWJ staff and physicians regarding accreditation, performance improvement, quality standards, and organizational compliance
- Educating staff and physicians on current Joint Commission standards, accreditation requirements, quality indicators, and performance improvement initiatives
- Supporting quality education during new employee and physician orientation
- Coordinating designated Quality/Performance Improvement meetings involving the Medical Staff and reviewing quality indicators with physicians and appropriate hospital personnel
- Reviewing and preparing quality reports prior to meetings and meeting with physicians and staff as needed to ensure effective communication and understanding of quality information
- Supporting national quality initiatives and Value-Based Purchasing requirements by assisting with performance improvement initiatives designed to enhance patient care
- Reviewing reported events within assigned departmental responsibilities and assisting departments with action plans, chart reviews, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes
- Completing special projects and quality-related assignments accurately and professionally within established guidelines and time frames
- Conducting thorough research and investigation to ensure that quality data and information are accurate, current, and reliable
- Utilizing databases and information systems to prepare scheduled and ad hoc summary reports, including hospital report cards and other quality dashboards
- Identifying innovative opportunities to improve the capabilities and effectiveness of departmental information systems
- Maintaining knowledge of regulatory requirements and supporting compliance with applicable state, federal, accreditation, and healthcare quality standards
- Promoting a safe patient and work environment by following safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, incident reporting, and other organizational policies
- Participating in ongoing professional development through seminars, workshops, conferences, in-services, professional literature, networking, and relevant healthcare quality certifications

To be considered for this Quality Coordinator opportunity:
- A New Jersey RN license is preferred
- A college degree with a minor in Nursing or a related healthcare field is desirable
- A CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) certification is highly desirable
- Minimum of five years of experience in clinical practice
- Previous experience with performance improvement initiatives
- Knowledge of state, federal, accreditation, and regulatory agency requirements
- Strong leadership, facilitation, and project management skills
