The Jewish Museum

The Jewish Museum is an art museum committed to illuminating the complexity and
vibrancy of Jewish culture for a global audience. Through distinctive exhibitions and
programs that present the work of diverse artists and thinkers, the Museum shares
ideas, provokes dialogue, and promotes understanding. The Jewish Museum
maintains a unique collection of nearly 30,000 works of art, ceremonial objects, and
media reflecting the global Jewish experience. Located on New York City's Museum
Mile, in the landmarked Warburg mansion, the Museum plays an important role
among cultural institutions, challenging all forms of bigotry and discrimination and
promoting understanding among diverse audiences. The Jewish Museum invites

The Position
The Jewish Museum debuted its renewed and reimagined collection galleries and
center for learning in October 2025. At the same time, the Museum continues to
develop widely and critically acclaimed temporary exhibitions featuring art from
ancient times to the present. We are seeking additional per diem educators to
conduct onsite tours for adult groups of the Museum's special exhibitions and
collection exhibition. Some virtual teaching opportunities will also be available.

Responsibilities
* Conduct gallery talks (either onsite and/or online) on a range of topics related
to the Jewish Museum's collection and special exhibitions
* Conduct art historical research and prepare PowerPoint presentations
independently
* Attend occasional in person and virtual training sessions. All sessions will be
recorded for future reference

Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in art history, museum studies, museum education, or related
field, master's preferred
* Deep knowledge of art history
* Knowledge of ancient, medieval, modern, and/or contemporary art preferred
* Five or more years related experience working in museums and/or teaching art
history
* Strong verbal skills, dynamic educator
* Flexibility in adapting to the needs of diverse audiences
* Reliability

* Experience teaching in a museum with original works of art and familiarity
teaching on Zoom with Power Point presentations
* A flexible schedule with Sunday, weekday, and evening availability preferred

Per Diem Educator Pay Rates for Adult Group Tours
Meetings/Trainings/Prep: $46.35/hour
Tour - 60 minutes $144.20/tour
Tour - 90 minutes $195.70/tour
