Position Announcement

The Engineering Department within the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor or Instructor of the Practice of Physics to begin Spring Semester (January 2027). Responsibilities

  • Teach 24 credits (Assistant Professor) or 30 credits (Instructor of the Practice) of lecture and/or laboratory courses annually.
  • Perform defined campus-wide duties, including holding office hours, functioning as an advisor to students, and performing university service and scholarship as defined by academic policy.
  • Attend department, college, and division faculty meetings; work with other faculty in program management and adhere to University policy and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Ph.D. in Physics or related field (Assistant Professor) or M.S. in Physics or related field (Instructor of the Practice). Candidates with a B.S. in Physics or related field that have relevant industry experience and/or a M.S. degree in a non-related field will also be considered.
  • Teaching experience with demonstrated ability of successful teaching including laboratory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with other faculty, staff and students.

Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (9-month) professional-track or tenure-track faculty position. Faculty service, with pay and benefits begins January 1, 2027. Annual salary of $58,000-$61,000 for Instructor of the Practice, and $64,000-$67,000 for Assistant Professor depending on qualifications and experience, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
