Description The Defense Sector at Leidos, supporting the Maritime Readiness Division, is seeking a Freight Operations Manger to support a dynamic high growth organization. The Freight Operations Manager will work from Aiea, HI and support logistics for DoW across the PACOM AOR. The Freight Operations Manager serves as the Logistics Platform Manager's principal subject matter expert for land-based freight transportation in support of ILS-2 Pacific logistics operations. The Freight Operations Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and oversight of surface freight movements across the operating area, including commercial trucking, line-haul transportation, local drayage, specialized and oversized cargo movements, and other ground transportation requirements. This position provides operational guidance on carrier selection, routing, scheduling, cargo handling, equipment requirements, safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management, while ensuring land transportation resources are aligned with mission priorities, customer requirements, and established performance standards. As the land transportation SME the Freight Operations Manager coordinates closely with the Chief Pilot, Port Captain, site and country operations teams, subcontractors, freight forwarders, carriers, and other logistics stakeholders to ensure the seamless movement of cargo across air, sea, and surface transportation networks. The Freight Operations Manager monitors freight operations and carrier performance, identifies and resolves transportation constraints, supports contingency and surge planning, and recommends alternate routing or transportation solutions when operational conditions change. The position also supports the development and standardization of land transportation procedures, validates operational readiness and provider capabilities, and provides the Logistics Platform Manager with expert advice on the cost, capacity, reliability, and operational risk associated with surface freight operations throughout the Pacific area of responsibility.
