Description

As a Gensler Technical Designer for the San Francisco Work 4 Studio, you will have the opportunity collaborate and grow with talented designers shaping the future of our built environments. Working on a wide variety of project types including workspace, commercial office buildings and repositioning.You will work on all phases of design, crafting concepts and coordinating our designs from construction documentation to construction administration. You are passionate about design, are interested in the details and have an appreciation for the nuances of furniture and finishes.

Your Role

As a result of a growing, diverse client base and increasing project work, we are searching for a Technical Designer to join our team.

What You Will Do

  • Manage multiple aspects of client, project coordination, and general contractors including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants
  • Provide project code and accessibility reviews and prepare reports
  • Lead technical communication and coordination within the project team, as well as with clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials
  • Mentor and guide others in respect to construction documentation standards, constructability, code requirements and possible interpretations
  • Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve and document complex technical and design challenges
  • Prepare & maintain the project documentation, including the construction documentation, project manual and specifications
  • Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews
  • Process submittals, RFIs, substitution requests, etc. during construction
  • Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the project

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture including 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience resolving complex technical and design issues
  • Direct project experience working within U.S. industry/building standards and regulations, specifically on design build projects
  • Experience managing multiple aspects of client, team and project coordination including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants
  • Proven expert at full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, civil, and a variety of specialty consultants
  • Proficiency with Revit is required
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCad
  • SketchUp, 3ds Max, and Adobe Creative Suite knowledge a plus
  • Understanding of how buildings are constructed and ability to create technical documents that succinctly, thoroughly and accurately describe the work to be done
  • Broad knowledge of building codes and standards
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to work effectively within a range of team compositions
  • Ability to effectively support multiple projects

*The base salary will be estimated between $100,000- $120,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
