Job Summary

The Front Desk Assistant serves as the first point of contact for the Office of Human Resources at Georgia Southern University, providing professional, courteous, and welcoming service to faculty, staff, students, applicants, visitors, and university partners. This position supports daily HR operations by managing front desk activities, responding to inquiries, directing individuals to appropriate resources, handling incoming communications, and providing administrative support to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the Office of Human Resources by greeting faculty, staff, students, applicants, visitors, and university guests in a professional and welcoming manner
  • Answer and route incoming phone calls, respond to general inquiries, and provide accurate information regarding HR services, resources, and processes
  • Provide administrative support to Human Resources operations, including receiving and distributing correspondence, assisting with scheduling, and supporting HR projects
  • Assist employees, applicants, and campus partners with general questions while ensuring confidential employee, applicant, and institutional information is handled appropriately
  • Maintain an organized and professional front desk environment while supporting effective communication and customer service across Human Resources and the University community
  • Track all customer inquiries, issues, transactions, and requests; communicate updates and resolutions using ticket management systems and other tracking tools
  • Maintain a high standard of privacy and confidentiality
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Experience

  • Previous receptionist, customer service, or administrative support experience
Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic safety procedures and visitor management practices

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in a college, school, or front desk environment
Proposed Salary

$16.15 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
