Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
The Department of Public Policy Programs seeks a public service academic or professional to teach Finance for Public Policy in the Spring semester. The course will be offered in a synchronous, online format mostly in the evening to accommodate the schedules of students who are also working professionals. Adjunct professors are part-time, non-tenure/tenure track employees, contracted via mutually signed offer letters, to teach specific classes during specific semesters (specific dates) as outlined in the offer letter.
The department's faculty draw from the region's most distinguished academics and professionals and offers a wealth of practical and focused experience to our students. With diverse and accomplished faculty, students can experience different pedagogical approaches and gain access to leading practitioners. Using practical experience, our faculty are able to educate students on the current and future practices of government, especially those happening at the state level in California.
This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean for Graduate, Online & International Programs.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in relevant field such as Public Policy, Public Administration, Finance, etc.
  • Working knowledge using current office software such as: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and electronic email.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience is desirable, but not essential. Must, however, demonstrate evidence of teaching potential.
  • Experience in local, state, or federal government.
  • Experience in public finance, budget, or related areas of practice.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Physical Requirements
Hiring Range $9,250 We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
