| Essential Job Duties |
The Temporary Financial Operations Specialist provides accounting and financial operations support within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (
CALS) Business Services unit. Business Services is transitioning to a cross-functional service model in which employees develop proficiency across multiple financial operations functions. Employees will support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Travel, and Procurement Card (PCard) operations and may be assigned primary responsibilities based on operational needs. Work assignments may shift across functional areas to support workload balancing, team coverage, and continuity of business operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Process and support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Travel, and Procurement Card (PCard) transactions, as assigned.
- Process, review, reconcile, and analyze financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with university policies and procedures.
- Apply accounting principles and established business processes to transactions across multiple funding sources.
- Review financial activity for appropriate documentation, classification, and compliance with applicable university, state, federal, and sponsor requirements.
- Research and resolve transaction discrepancies while maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with financial monitoring, reconciliation, reporting activities, and audit support.
- Utilize university financial systems, including PeopleSoft, ServiceNow, and reporting tools, to process, review, and monitor financial activity.
- Provide customer service and guidance to departments regarding financial processes, documentation requirements, and transaction status.
- Collaborate with campus partners to resolve financial issues and support efficient business operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance operational effectiveness.
- Participate in cross-training and provide backup coverage across Business Services functions as operational needs require.

| Minimum Experience/Education |
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or accounting; or Associate's degree in business administration or accounting and one year of experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
