| Job Summary |
The Department of Neuroscience and the Center for Advanced Pain Studies at UT Dallas has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate to join the Price Lab.
This specific position will work on
NIH grant funded projects that are aimed at better understanding how neuronal plasticity alters the way the brain receives nociceptive information from the sensory system and how this relates to chronic pain. The project focuses on
RNA sequencing, proteomic, and multiomic methods to understand the molecular make-up of human dorsal root ganglion cells and human spinal cord cells.
This is a grant funded position, and continued employment is contingent on the availability of funds and satisfactory performance.

| Minimum Education and Experience |
Ph.D in a related field.
Candidates who have successfully completed all requirements for the Ph.D. but whose degree has not yet been formally conferred may be eligible to begin employment provided they submit an official letter from the Registrar or Graduate School of the degree-granting institution certifying that all doctoral requirements have been satisfied and specifying the expected date of conferral. Appointment and continued employment are contingent upon formal conferral of the Ph.D.

Preferred Education and Experience
- 3-5 years of research experience in molecular pain models and/or data analysis with experience in Bioinformatics, proteomics, RNA sequencing and RNA sequencing data analysis, and multiomic integration and analysis.
- Development of computational analysis methods is important for the position so the applicant must have experience in this area as well.
- The ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic laboratory environment is essential.

| Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Function independently to organize and conduct highly specialized and advanced experiments and analysis using established scientific protocols and procedures with an emphasis on RNA sequencing and proteomics.
- Design new analysis methods for RNA sequencing and proteomic data and its integration and improve existing pipelines
- Conduct analysis of in vitro experiments with human DRG neurons cultured from organ donors
- Designing new protocols; summarizing findings and publish results in research journals; assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the project
- Communicate effectively in both verbal presentations and writing technical reports for internal/external presentations, publications, and grant preparation
- Supervise other personnel in the laboratory to coordinate research efforts for increased efficiency; participate in training of students and undergraduate workers as needed
- Apply established quality control criteria in all experimental designs
- Perform basic lab responsibilities include following SOPs, careful record keeping, following lab safety regulations and participation in team meetings
- Maintain accurate laboratory documentation using established methods
- Contribute to a cohesive and efficient team environment
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Principles of bulk RNA-seq and, ideally, single-cell and/or single-nucleus RNA-seq
RNA extraction, library preparation, sequencing strategies, and common sources of technical variation FASTQ files, read quality, adapter contamination, sequencing depth, and read duplication- Strong programming skills
- Strong knowledge of RNA-seq analysis pipelines
- High-Performance Computing and Data Management
