Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Phoenix AZ
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Industry: Manufacturing
Compensation: $60-$65/hr.
Schedule: Day shift with flexible start time
Acara Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's multidisciplinary engineering team in Phoenix, AZ. This position will focus on the mechanical design, development, testing, documentation, and manufacturing implementation of thermal test solutions for the semiconductor industry.
About the Opportunity:
  • Design and develop new products and provide engineering support for existing products in the field.
  • Perform mechanical design, 3D modeling, FEA, testing, and technical documentation to meet customer requirements.
  • Use SolidWorks to design, model, validate, and document product designs and concepts.
  • Research and develop innovative mechanical solutions for new product applications.
  • Apply engineering principles, mathematics, materials knowledge, and physical sciences to complete product designs.
  • Identify and select appropriate materials and components for production.
  • Develop test plans and provide engineering direction for product testing in coordination with laboratory personnel.
  • Produce final engineering drawings and specifications and complete product release processes through the PLM system.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to develop and implement processes for new and existing products.
  • Support manufacturing operations to ensure products meet quality, performance, and customer requirements.
  • Serve as a manufacturing process engineer as needed to support production.
  • Evaluate how engineering decisions impact product cost, performance, manufacturability, and quality.

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8 years minimum of experience in a technical engineering role.
  • 8 years minimum of industry experience with heat transfer, thermodynamics, and thermal modeling.
  • 8 years minimum of experience with CNC machining, sheet metal, injection molding, tight-tolerance components, or similar manufacturing processes.
What Sets You Apart:
  • Strong mechanical design and engineering fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks 2020 or newer or comparable 3D solid-modeling software.
  • Experience with closed-loop refrigeration systems.
  • Experience with pneumatic actuation and automation.
  • Experience with thermocouples, RTDs, power supplies, fans, and thermoelectric coolers.
  • Experience supporting product testing and manufacturing process implementation.
