About the Role
The Sales Associate is a key member of the KARL STORZ commercial team, supporting sales growth and customer success throughout the greater Albany, NY market. Reporting to the Region Sales Associate Manager with a dotted-line partnership to the local sales team, this role serves as a trusted product expert responsible for driving product evaluations, supporting installations, conducting demonstrations, and providing clinical and technical support across hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and physician offices. This highly visible development role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced Sales Executives while building expertise in advanced medical technologies and customer engagement. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys spending time in clinical settings, and is passionate about helping healthcare professionals deliver exceptional patient care. This position is based in the Albany, NY area and requires extensive local travel to customer sites throughout the territory.
What You'll Do
- Drive territory growth by supporting product demonstrations, evaluations, trials, and installations of KARL STORZ capital equipment and single-use products.
- Partner with Sales Executives to develop and execute compliant sales strategies that generate new business opportunities and strengthen existing customer relationships.
- Provide clinical case coverage, training, and product support for customers in operating rooms, sterile processing departments, and other healthcare environments.
- Build strong relationships with physicians, nurses, supply chain teams, sterile processing professionals, and healthcare administrators across assigned accounts.
- Deliver customer education, troubleshooting assistance, and in-service training to ensure optimal product utilization and customer satisfaction.
- Support customer account management activities, including quotations, service agreements, order updates, repair coordination, and promotional initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records, complete required reporting, and participate in sales meetings, training programs, and professional development activities.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience, preferably within medical device sales, healthcare, clinical support, or a related industry.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Ability to travel up to 90% within the territory, including routine visits to hospitals, operating rooms, surgical centers, laboratories, and healthcare facilities.
- Ability to meet and maintain all hospital credentialing requirements, including background checks, immunizations, certifications, and facility-specific onboarding requirements.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage effectively with clinical, administrative, and technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of healthcare sales environments, including operating rooms, biomedical departments, and sterile processing departments.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting surgical technologies, endoscopic equipment, imaging systems, or other medical device products.
- Prior experience conducting product demonstrations, clinical training, or technical support within healthcare settings.
- Proven success supporting sales growth, customer retention, or territory development initiatives.
