A Brief Overview:
The Environmental Services Technician II plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and infection-free environment. This position is responsible for performing a wide range of housekeeping and sanitation duties to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are met. The Environmental Services Technician II will work closely with the Environmental Services Supervisor and other team members to support the overall well-being of our patients and staff.

What you will do:
  • Performing thorough cleaning and sanitation of patient rooms, public areas, and staff workspaces following hospital cleaning protocols.
  • Disinfecting and cleaning high-touch surfaces, such as doorknobs, handrails, and elevator buttons, to prevent the spread of infections.
  • Maintaining an organized and well-stocked cart with cleaning supplies.
  • Adhering to infection control guidelines and best practices to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Following proper isolation procedures when cleaning rooms of patients with contagious illnesses.
  • Reporting any issues or potential infection control breaches to the Environmental Services Supervisor.
  • Safely collecting, transporting, and disposing of medical waste, regular trash, and recyclable materials in accordance with hospital policies and state regulations.
  • Monitoring and replacing biohazard and sharps containers as needed.
  • Collecting and transporting soiled linens and distribute clean linens as per established procedures.
  • Maintaining linen storage areas in a neat and organized manner.
  • Performing routine maintenance and cleaning of environmental services equipment, including vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.
  • Reporting any equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the Environmental Services Supervisor.
  • Collaborating with other members of the Environmental Services team to ensure timely completion of tasks and maintain a harmonious work environment.
  • Assisting in training new Environmental Services Technicians as needed.
  • Complying with all hospital safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
  • Reporting any safety hazards or incidents immediately.

What you will need:
  • High School Required
  • 1 Year experience in environmental services or housekeeping, preferably in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Certified in Infection Control (CIC) - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) Preferred
