PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Location: Hartford, CT

Compensation Range: $23-30 Hourly

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Preventative Maintenance Service Technician, you will deliver our performance check programs by providing proactive maintenance to keep our customers' kitchen equipment running at optimum efficiency and limit breakdowns. You will also be the primary service technician for our beverage business by completing installations, removals, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs.

WHAT WILL YOUR DAY LOOK LIKE?

Leave from home each morning and work independently at customer sites to complete performance checks on commercial foodservice equipment, including refrigerators, ice machines, ovens, fryers, and beverage equipment, and perform preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, installations, and removals.

Partner with managers and operators across restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and other commercial foodservice environments to provide comprehensive service solutions for commercial cooking, refrigeration, ware-washing, beverage, and other specialty foodservice equipment.

Identify operating challenges that contribute to equipment failures in restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and other commercial foodservice environments.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial kitchen equipment, including cooking, refrigeration, ware-washing, and specialty food-service equipment.

Utilize mechanical aptitude and interpret diagrams and schematics to identify equipment issues and determine repair solutions.

Collaborate with manufacturers and the Technical Assistance Group to support diagnostics, technical troubleshooting, and parts identification.

Install ordered parts in a timely, professional manner while adhering to company policies and productivity standards.

Promote and recommend additional Smart Care services when appropriate.

Complete accurate administrative documentation, including work orders, time reports, receipts, and inventory records.

Maintain a safe work environment by following safe work practices and accident prevention procedures.

Maintain an organized service vehicle and accurate parts, tools, and truck stock inventory.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Ability to frequently kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, reach, and occasionally lift and carry up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to work with moving mechanical parts, pressurized steam equipment, open flames, heated surfaces, liquids, and risk of electrical shock in damp, humid, or freezing conditions
  • Ability to work on ladders, roofs, and other high places.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of technical experience with refrigeration, appliance repair, kitchen equipment, HVAC, or relevant military service
  • Valid driver's license (Real ID) and acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Willingness to participate in on call rotation according to customer needs
  • Availability for occasional overnight travel as assigned
  • Immigration sponsorship not provided for this role
  • Relevant technical training, licenses, and/or certifications (i.e. EPA, CFESA).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Commercial refrigeration and or commercial cooking equipment repair
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision
