Altium Packaging is one of the largest plastic container companies and suppliers of rigid plastic packaging. We specialize in customized mid- and short-run packaging solutions and serve a diverse customer base in the pharmaceutical, dairy, household chemicals, food/nutraceuticals, industrial/specialty chemicals, water, and beverage/juice segments.
The Warehouse Lead provides daily leadership, direction, and support to distribution center employees to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate warehouse operations. This role is responsible for driving compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), company policies, safety and quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Warehouse Lead utilizes ERP systems, Microsoft Office applications, warehouse scanning technology, and transportation systems to support inventory accuracy, shipping and receiving, productivity, and overall operational performance. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership & Team Development
- Provide daily direction, coaching, and support to distribution center employees to achieve operational goals and performance expectations.
- Promote employee engagement, teamwork, accountability, and retention by fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Communicate operational priorities, job assignments, policy updates, and performance expectations clearly and consistently.
- Support employee training, onboarding, cross-training, and development to improve team capabilities and operational flexibility.
- Lead by example, demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and consistency in all employee and business interactions.
Warehouse Operations & Systems
- Utilize ERP systems to support inventory management, order processing, shipping, receiving, and accurate transaction reporting.
- Use Microsoft Excel to track operational metrics, analyze performance, maintain reports, identify trends, and support data-driven decisions.
- Use Microsoft Word to prepare, maintain, and communicate standard operating procedures, work instructions, and operational documentation.
- Operate handheld scan guns and warehouse scanning systems to verify inventory, process transactions, track materials, and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Coordinate shipping activities using FedEx Freight systems and documentation to support timely, accurate, and compliant freight shipments.
- Monitor daily workflow, throughput, order fulfillment, and shipping performance to identify bottlenecks and improve productivity.
- Ensure employees follow established procedures, customer requirements, job orders, and company policies.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture by promoting safe work practices and maintaining a clean, organized, and secure distribution center.
- Ensure compliance with company safety requirements, quality standards, and applicable operational programs, including CMP and CPS.
- Identify unsafe conditions, operational risks, and security concerns; take corrective action and escalate issues when necessary.
- Support incident prevention, root cause analysis, and corrective action initiatives to reduce workplace injuries and operational errors.
- Maintain accurate operational records and ensure company data and performance information are handled with integrity.
Work Environment
- Work in a fast-paced distribution center environment that requires strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain flexibility to support changing business priorities, operational demands, and reasonable mandatory overtime when required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-3 years relevant warehouse, distribution, logistics experience.
- 2-3 years team leadership experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to learn and utilize ERP systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), handheld scan guns, and shipping platforms.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze operational information and resolve problems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead employees, communicate expectations, and support safe, productive work.
- Experience with ERP or WMS platforms, inventory control, shipping and receiving, and warehouse reporting.
- Experience using FedEx Freight systems or other freight carrier platforms.
- Experience with Excel-based KPI reporting, process improvement, and operational performance analysis.
- Previous experience training employees, enforcing SOPs, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to work overtime.
