Compensation: $65,000 per year

Compensation will be determined based on the candidate's geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills, and alignment with internal equity. Join us as a Laboratory Supervisor, where you'll provide leadership, oversight, and technical guidance across laboratory, services, field, or testing operations. In this role, you'll ensure policies, programs, and practices are executed accurately and efficiently while supporting employees, management, and customer needs.

The laboratory supervisor provides technical and operational leadership for the Smyrna laboratory, overseeing a diverse portfolio of microbiological services. This position is responsible for guiding laboratory personnel, managing testing operations, maintaining quality and compliance programs, supporting client needs, and ensuring the delivery of accurate, scientifically sound, and defensible analytical results.

What You'll Do


  • Supervise laboratory staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, competency evaluations, performance management, and professional development.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for bacterial, fungal, indoor air quality, environmental monitoring, and culture-based microbiological testing programs.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing, analysis, review, and reporting of microbiological samples in accordance with laboratory SOPs, accreditation requirements, and quality standards.
  • Oversee daily laboratory operations, including sample workflow, analyst assignments, workload balancing, turnaround times, and resource planning.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with applicable accreditation, regulatory, safety, and quality management requirements.
  • Coordinate laboratory inventory, media, reagents, microbiological supplies, reference cultures, and critical equipment maintenance and calibration activities.
  • Partner with clients, quality assurance personnel, and senior leadership to address technical questions, customer concerns, and service-related issues.
  • Support proficiency testing programs, method performance evaluations, quality investigations, and implementation of new microbiological services and technologies.
  • Foster a culture of safety, scientific excellence, teamwork, accountability, and customer service consistent with Pace's mission and values.

What You'll Bring


  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field
  • Five (5) years of laboratory, services, field, or testing experience, including work with complex programs or operations
  • Two (2) years of team leadership experience is strongly preferred Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Experience working within an accredited laboratory environment (NELAP, AIHA LAP, ISO 17025, or similar).
  • Experience with fungal identification, bacterial culture techniques, environmental microbiology, or indoor air quality testing preferred.
