Assistant Project Manager- PHILADELPHIA

The Assistant Project Manager typically reports to the Project Manager, and may, based on project, supervise a Project Engineer. This position provides overall support to the success to the Project Management Team contributes to the planning and coordination of activities of an assigned project to ensure that the goals and objectives of the project are accomplished within the prescribed time frame, funding parameters and to the highest level of quality.

  • Assist the Project Manager with equipment and supply scheduling, delivery, and distribution activities
  • Ensure Project Engineer has all field changes, approved shop drawings/cut sheets, sketches, RFI's, etc for incorporation into the "build set"
  • Ensure all subcontractors have and are working from the latest set of contract documents, approved shop drawings/cut sheets, sketches, RFIs etc.
  • Review spec's to create submittal log and track submissions from subcontractor
  • Manage incoming RFIs/ RFI process
  • Assist in negotiating subcontractor proposals for inclusion into documents submitted to Ownership.
  • Assist in ensuring approved changes are issued to subcontractors and accounting for billing utilizing Textura
  • Help obtain monthly pencil requisitions and provide/review /revision prior to submission to owner/bank
  • Help review field conditions, project scheduled and fabrication/deliveries to project monthly work -in -place. Provide values to the cost Project Manager or Senior Project Manager
  • Report potential problems, work interferences, and scheduling difficulties to the Project Manager and assist in circumventing/resolving such problems
  • Regularly provide project reports, documentation, technical assistance, support, and collaboration; including but not limited to Budget Reports, GC Monitor, and MPPR
  • Track project expenditures and cost accounting, including accuracy, approvals, and payment reporting through CMiC software tools
  • Perform a minimum of 1 DBO2 inspections per week and follow up on resolutions of open issues. Include 20 observations per inspection.
  • Attend and participate in weekly construction meetings at project site location, assist Project Manager with meeting Minutes as needed
  • Foster effective and positive business relationships with all parties throughout project phases
  • Demonstrate the principles of the Corporate Safety Program at all times and assist Project Manager in ensuring project safety is managed effectively, proactively and consistently
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to junior staff

Qualifications

  • Engineering, Construction Management or related Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of two years Construction Management experience
  • OSHA 30 required

Skills and Abilities
Superior communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills essential both within the internal project team and externally with subcontractors, etc.

Ability to work with and have knowledge of the shop drawing submittal process

Able to read and comprehend building plans and specifications and able to comprehend and recognize safety standards and issues
