The Department of Transportation's (DOT) mission is to provide for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in the City of New York and to maintain and enhance the transportation infrastructure crucial to the economic vitality and quality of life of our primary customers, City residents. The Office of Construction Mitigation and Coordination (OCMC)-Streets in the Bureau of Permit Management and Construction Control is tasked with reviewing all construction permit applications and developing traffic stipulations to allow construction activity to occur with minimal disruption to businesses, motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians, and avoiding conflicts with other construction projects and special events. OCMC-Streets interacts with project engineers, other city agencies, community boards, elected officials, and the general public to resolve construction issues related to mobility. We are seeking a Clerical Associate Level 4, who will assist the Director(s) of OCMC-Streets. Under supervision, the selected candidate will perform clerical and related work with limited latitude for independent judgment. Tasks will include but are not limited to covering phones and taking messages, making copies, preparing files and entering new jobs into the database. The selected candidate will assist with the development and distribution of special Weekly and Weekend Traffic Advisories and special construction embargoes as needed. The selected candidate will assist with 311 complaints and the Agency Response Tracking System (ARTS), creating, downloading and closing out cases as needed. The selected candidate will prepare responses for the Commissioner's and Borough Commissioners' signatures to elected officials, citizens and other government agencies as well as community business leaders. These letters must be concise and cordial and follow the Commissioner's communication style. The selected candidate must perform research, write and edit standard acknowledgement letters for constituents, as well as maintain templates and records of these documents. The successful candidate will monitor the Director's calendar, schedule meetings, secure meeting locations and schedule attendees. CLERICAL ASSOCIATE - 10251 Minimum Qualifications Qualification Requirements A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience. Skills Requirement Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute. Preferred Skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent verbal, Oral & Communication skills. Ability to review documents for accuracy. Knowledge of CCU/ARTS system. Knowledge of NYC Streets is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word. 55a Program This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program.
