SUMMARY: The Import Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that import processes operate correctly in a timely manner by controlling and monitoring the import processes for the subsidiaries of Wood, Cardboards, Forsac, and Cellulose. They act as an intermediary between export and import stakeholders, both internal and external to the company.



The import manager is also responsible for managing relationships with ports in the USA, brokers, and local shipping companies, aiming to maintain the smooth flow of import processes for all products.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Coordinate transversally with the transportation and warehouse teams for the release and departure of cargo from the ports.
  2. Generate controls, meetings, and contacts with all subsidiaries to create an updated forecast of cargo arrival at different ports in the USA.
  3. Manage import processes efficiently and timely to avoid extra costs such as demurrages and detentions, thus ensuring service levels.
  4. Ensure integrity in the quality of imports by guaranteeing that the cargo includes all export documents to ports and borders from the Comex area, such as Bill of Lading (BL), Packing List (PL) and Importer Security Filing (ISF).
  5. Connect with existing BEST methodologies and propose identified improvements to the way of working.
  6. Design, monitor, and analyze operational and economic Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) that allow monitoring the performance of processes at each stage. Propose continuous improvements, ensuring KPI compliance.
  7. Promote the creation of a trusting environment among team members to achieve maximum collaboration from everyone.

  • Import Coordinator



SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in industrial civil engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of professional experience leading and/or executing projects.
  • Certification in Projects and Agile Methodologies preferred.
  • Systems, Applications and Products (SAP) experience is a plus.
  • Microsoft Access (ability to pull reports, manipulate, and move data) is a plus.
  • Bilingual is a must (English and Spanish)
  • Must have attention to detail and focused concentration
  • Must be able to learn new tasks and complete tasks independently
  • Must be able to make timely decisions in the context of the workflow
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and responsiveness
