POSITION: Senior Corporate Banking Loan Officer

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Corporate Banking Team Leader, a Senior Corporate Banking Loan officer will develop and coordinate services for a wide variety of commercial banking relationships. Responsibilities include new business origination, assessment of risk and extension of typical credit facilities such as lines of credit and term loans in support of equipment or real estate purchases or acquisition financing. Additionally, the Senior Corporate Banking Loan Officer is responsible for continued monitoring and ongoing management of existing and new loans to ensure proper documentation and continued loan quality. The overall focus for new business acquisition will require the candidate to plan and execute a business development strategy, both direct and through valued referral sources, focused primarily on New England based companies with revenue between $10MM and $100MM and credit needs up to $30MM.

Key Result Areas:


  • Plan and direct a focused calling and business development program for lower middle market companies.
  • Review loan applications, interview applicants and request necessary information, such as financial and operating statements to evaluate loan requests, manage, structure and negotiate credit terms as well as identify other opportunities for CSB.
  • Organize data and evaluate the credit worthiness of the prospective borrower according to CSB guidelines and policies.
  • Prepare and maintain the required and appropriate documentation and ensure that the necessary follow-up is coordinated and accomplished on a timely basis.
  • Within approved loan authority, extend new commercial loans of good quality.
  • Present relevant data for approval and recommendations to SVP, Corporate Banking Team Leader, for all new lending opportunities.
  • Identifying emerging portfolio risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Build deposits from customers and prospects to help fund loans.
  • Manage the underwriting of loan proposals and present it to the Loan Committee.
  • Interface with other areas in the Bank (i.e. credit, loan servicing & corporate services) to ensure that all loan relationships are developed and maintained properly.
  • Coach junior lenders, underwriters, and portfolio managers
  • Cross sell other Bank services plus corporate service (i.e., Treasury Management,)
  • Manage existing loan portfolio to ensure credit quality and to minimize loan losses. Review maturing loans and present for renewal if applicable.
  • Assist in the implementation of a Contact Management and Pipeline management system for the group's business development and management reporting needs.
  • Assist in resolving commercial business loan delinquencies as well as servicing issues.
  • Review and approve overdrafts within loan authority of commercial customers.
  • Participate in community affairs to increase the Bank's visibility and to enhance new business opportunities.
  • Keep abreast of local and national economic, financial, political and legislative events and climates which could have an impact on lending activities.
  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with customers and colleagues across the bank.
  • Assist in the resolution of customer problems and/or complaints.
  • Contribute to the effective team management of all bank-related problems, issues and opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's College education required.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of relationship banking, including managing larger, complex and multi-product relationships (i.e.: Lending Products, Depository and Cash Management and Trust Services.)
  • 10-15 years' commercial lending experience, within the New England Corporate Banking Marketplace.
  • Solid negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and identify customer needs and business opportunities.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending regulations, underwriting standards and proper loan documentation.
  • Proven computer / technical skills.
  • Ability to work independently on unstructured projects with limited direction.
  • Strong internal and external customer service skills.

Location: Hybrid/Waltham, MA Salary Range: $190,000 - $240,000

The reasonably estimated salary for this role at Cambridge Savings Bank ranges from $190,000 - $240,000. Cambridge Saving Bank will determine actual compensation for the role based on factors including, but not limited to, the successful candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
