The Manager Structural Engineering is responsible for assigning Structural staff to projects. Assists in writing proposals, developing hours to execute projects, and identifying risks and opportunities for upcoming projects. Evaluates, mentors, and manages employees under their supervision. Supports maintaining and updating department standards, processes, procedures and responsibilities.

* Attracts, retains and develops premier talent through recruiting, mentoring, training and other employee development activities
* Participates in weekly project meetings, including report-out on project progress, performance risks, budget status, coordination issues, and staffing requirements
* Reports out to the Director the status of all projects and proposals including identify technical challenges, and problems or risks and employee relations issues.
* Holds monthly department and/or 1:1 meetings with direct reports.
* Performs Standard Performance Form goal setting, reviews, and development plans for direct reports
* Maintains primary accountability for all civil/structural designs, sharing engineering responsibility
* Mentors Interns and junior members of project teams.
* Adept at interfacing with and aligning multiple stakeholders with diplomacy while exhibiting a professional demeanor.
* Ensures staff forecasting is current on a weekly basis for the discipline, as entered in the Manpower Management System (MMS). Help in adjustment of resource additions / reductions within the discipline
* Be familiar with all local discipline projects in sufficient detail to know schedule, resource requirements, submittal dates, etc. so staff can be allocated as needed to accomplish a smooth product flow
* When necessary, employ the use of personal process engineering capabilities related to programming, planning, design and project management on specific project assignments.
* Manages the overall integration of activities associated with the design and construction of complex manufacturing facilities
* Plans and directs the coordinated activities of the Civil/Structural department

Show your expertise

Minimum Required
* Education: Bachelor's Degree in civil/structural engineering or related field.
* Professional Engineering License (PE) required, (SE Preferred)
* Nation Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Record preferred
* 10+ years of related experience
* 2+ years of Management experience or experience in lead role.
* Experience with structural analysis software such as RAM, STAAD, Tedds and Enercalc

Preferred
* Prior experience in roles with primary function as a Civil/Structural Engineer for a high-tech manufacturing or "clean" facilities, scope including all typical facility design disciplines (CSA, MEP, etc.)
* Prior experience in semiconductors and microelectronic facilities
* Prior experience working with high hazard (H occupancy) facility types
* Experience with Design-Build
* Experience working in an office environment and preferably has experience working on a construction site
* Experienced in Autodesk Building Systems Software design and delivery systems
* Experience as a consulting engineer
* Experience in contributing to continuous improvement processes
* Experience in driving and managing change

* Exhibit characteristics of a leader
* Ability to manage 5+ staff
* Exhibit a professional demeanor and be a proactive problem solver
* Adept at interfacing with and aligning multiple stakeholders with diplomacy while exhibiting a professional demeanor
* Ability to lead the organization in a broad area of specialization or in a narrow, but intensely specialized field
* Demonstrates skills in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues
* Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills in meetings and reports along with respect, tact and diplomacy
* Be capable of enjoying the work and keeping a positive attitude in a challenging environment
* Working knowledge Autodesk Building Systems Software design and delivery systems
* Understand industry, drafting and design standards associated with detailing and construction document development
* Understands differences between project delivery methods
* Ability to work with global teams and/or multi-office project execution is desirable
* Demonstrated track record of strong Structural office leadership
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
