Under the general direction of the Director of Business Development in the Workforce Center at the Department of Psychiatry at SIU School of Medicine (SIU SOM), the Grants and Contracts Associate serves as a technical and administrative resource for operations pertaining to grants, contracts, subcontracts, and related activities necessary to sustain the work of the Illinois Behavioral Health Workforce Center and other community-based outreach programs within the Department of Psychiatry.

Examples of Duties

Administration (100%) 1. Support the development and administration of grants, contract, and subcontracts 2. Provide guidance on the State of Illinois Government Accountability Transparency Act 3. Works with staff and leadership to address grant questions and issues 4. Assist with the day-to-day operations of grants and contracts in the Workforce Center 5. Support the growth of grants and contracts through daily management of processes and procedures 6. Support communications and negotiations with partner organizations as it relates to grants and contracts; 7. Manage and monitor grants and contracts through the internal review, approval and signature processes; 8. Interpret and apply internal and external policies and procedures to comply with SIU, state, and federal agencies; 9. Ensure a comprehensive tracking process and filing 10. Communicate grant and contract information and timelines to faculty and staff 11. Work with legal counsel and compliance to ensure grant and contract rules and procedures are followed; 12. Support the development of documentation needed by the Business Manager's processing of purchase requisitions, purchase orders and invoices; 13. Research and identify regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with the grants office and contracts office for processing of grants and contracts; 14. Support the collaboration of partner organizations through the grants and contracts process; 15. Support the development of grant and contract submissions on behalf of the workforce center; 16. Ensure all grant and contract requirements have been met; and 17. Serves on work groups in the development and management of grants and contracts.

- Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics or a field related to the position
- Additional knowledge, education, training and/or sponsored project experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position may be required:

- Knowledge of, or the ability to learn federal, state and funding agencies policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and codes applicable to the administration of grants and contracts.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, University policies and procedures.

- Knowledge of computers; word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
