Position Summary

Under direct supervision of the Site Supervisor of Children's programs, assists in instructional and recreational activities and provides child care services to infants, toddlers, preschool and school aged children.

Essential Functions



  • Plan, implement and supervise activities of the center.
  • Provide for the health, safety and psychological needs of the children.
  • Communicate positively and effectively with children, staff, parents and volunteers.
  • Change diapers and provide hygienic care for the children.
  • Cooperate in maintaining a positive, safe, and clean atmosphere.
  • Keep a file and record each child's development and progress.
  • Prepare and complete all assigned records and reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Attend staff meetings, conferences and training as requested.
  • Assist Site Supervisor as needed.
  • All other related duties as assigned.


Working Conditions

Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Must be able to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Must be in good health and shall be physically, mentally and occupationally capable of performing assigned tasks that meet the demands of the classroom.
  • Hold and maintain a valid California Drivers license.
  • Hold and maintain a Teacher Child Development Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
  • At least one year experience in related field.
  • High school diploma, equivalency degree or demonstration of equivalent skills.


Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities



  • Ability to carry out assignments independently and good time management skills.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written.
  • The successful candidate will have previous experience as a teacher, assistant teacher, student intern or other supervised training.
  • Current first aid and CPR certificates.
  • Must be a self-starter and initiate tasks/supervision with little direction.
  • Driving Test and clean MVR check
  • Passing a criminal check, including fingerprinting
  • Background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
