Job Description

Position Summary:

The Torch Cutter is responsible for safely cutting, dismantling, and preparing metal materials using oxy-fuel cutting equipment and hand tools. This position requires the ability to identify and cut various types of steel and scrap metal efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity. The Torch Cutter will inspect and maintain cutting equipment, prepare materials for processing or recycling, maintain a clean work area, and follow all company safety policies and hot-work procedures. Previous torch-cutting, welding, fabrication, demolition, or industrial experience is preferred.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Other duties may be assigned. Safety-conscious to cut, dismantle, and prepare metal materials using oxy-fuel cutting equipment and other hand tools. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working around heavy machinery and scrap metal, follow safety procedures carefully, and produce clean, accurate cuts while maintaining a productive work pace.

  • Operate oxy-fuel cutting torches and related equipment to cut and dismantle steel and other metal materials.
  • Cut structural steel, pipe, plate, machinery, and scrap metal to specified sizes.
  • Inspect materials and determine the appropriate cutting method and sequence.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain cutting equipment, hoses, regulators, and torch tips.
  • Remove excess metal, slag, and debris from work areas.
  • Sort and prepare cut materials for processing, recycling, shipment, or further fabrication.
  • Use hand tools, measuring equipment, grinders, and other shop equipment as needed.
  • Perform routine inspections of torch equipment and report damaged or unsafe equipment.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and proper procedures for handling compressed gases and hot materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Work effectively with supervisors and other team members to meet production goals.

Required Skills:

  • Previous experience as a torch cutter, metal cutter, burner, welder, or in a similar industrial environment preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate an oxy-fuel cutting torch.
  • Knowledge of different metals and basic cutting techniques.
  • Ability to read measurements and follow basic cutting instructions.
  • Ability to work around heavy equipment, heat, sparks, dust, and noise.
  • Good physical condition with the ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work for extended periods.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.

Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Vocational or technical training in welding, metal fabrication, or industrial trades is preferred.
  • Relevant torch-cutting or welding certifications/training are a plus.
  • 1 year of torch-cutting or related metalworking experience preferred; equivalent hands-on experience may be considered.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $21.50 to $26.75 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
