Description
The Credit Analyst II is responsible for preparing financial statement analysis and credit reviews for more complex commercial, not-for-profit, faith-based, franchise, and equipment finance prospects and clients. The Credit Analyst II will complete credit write-ups and annual reviews for small loan relationships. The Credit Analyst II also responds to customer credit inquiries, audit confirmations and serves as administrator for the bank's business credit report and real estate databases. The Credit Analyst II will mentor and assist with the training of less experienced Credit Analysts. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Develops credit information for use by Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers in making lending decisions on new, renewed, and prospect loans for commercial, equipment finance, non-for-profit, franchise, and faith- based business segments:
- Prepares all spreadsheet and financial information for an automated financial statement analysis report.
- Prepares comparative risk analysis by industry on customers.
- Completes spreadsheet analysis on faith-based and franchise loans.
- Sets-up initial loan arrangement reports for new customers and updates reports when annual financial statements are received, or a new loan has been requested.
- Prepares credit write-ups for small loan relationships with limited oversight.
- Ensures compliance with the Bank's lending policy and laws and regulations .
- Maintains a working knowledge of the Bank's core processing system.
- Mentors and assists with training new Credit Analysts.
- Supports Portfolio Managers with special projects and general analysis.
- Assists with credit research for Cass Information Systems, Inc. (CIS) Expedite clients.
- Assists manager in completion of Board and Executive Loan Committee reports.
- Serves as the administrator for the web-based real estate software programs and generates information on real estate sales comps to confirm value of the real estate collateral.
- Has responsibility for set-up and maintenance of credit files.
- Provides response to written audit confirmations and credit inquiries about bank customers:
- Contacts all available sources of information.
- Assembles all pertinent information and reports to the interested party by mail, fax or by using the confirmation.com website.
- Assists with other duties or special projects as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Thorough understanding of general business, accounting, and economic terms such as balance sheet and income statement components, cash flow, ratio analysis, and risk understanding.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to comprehend and interpret complex financial scenarios.
- High attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate, interpret and summarize complex analysis.
- Self-motivated with a desire to be resourceful, efficient, and productive in order to accomplish time-sensitive objectives.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to listen well and assertively communicate ideas.
- Experience complying with all banking laws and regulations.
- Experience utilizing SalesForce system desired.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. - advanced knowledge of Excel.
MINIMUM LEVEL OF PREPARATION AND TRAINING NORMALLY REQUIRED:
- A technical level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's level program in business administration, finance, or related area or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 Years of commercial credit analysis experience.
