The Dean's Office in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) at UMKC is seeking a Student Services Coordinator to join their team.

The SHSS is home to ten departments and more than 25 academic degree options providing students with a curriculum that spans the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Our students leave the School of Humanities and Social Sciences with a thorough understanding of the world around them.

Job Description

The Coordinator of Scholarships & Graduate Recruitment plays a critical role in advancing student success through the development and administration of scholarship programs aligned with school priorities and coordinating graduate recruitment activities within SHSS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing scholarship strategies aligned with school goals and oversee the administration of scholarship programs, including scholarship creation, promotion, application management, selection, award distribution, record maintenance, eligibility monitoring, fund oversight, and tuition remission processing.
  • Coordinate scholarship committees and oversee scholarship selection processes; utilize Academic Works and DSS to manage applications, reviews, awards, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the UMKC Foundation and the Financial Aid Office to administer scholarships, ensure donor intent and regulatory compliance are maintained, and provide reports and updates to stakeholders.
  • Advise students on scholarship opportunities and eligibility; conduct workshops, webinars, and informational sessions; and address student questions regarding scholarship programs, awards, and processes.
  • Collaborate with recruitment partners on scholarship-related recruitment efforts, orientations, and student outreach initiatives.
  • Coordinate and support graduate recruitment activities within SHSS and serve as a liaison with the Office of Admissions; organizing recruitment events, outreach efforts, and program materials; and serve as a resource for prospective and current graduate students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Shift

On-Site Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Some evenings and weekends required for specialty programming and support.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Respect for the confidentiality of sensitive processes and the ability to maintain confidentiality in daily processes
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Proficiency in standard office software (Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel)
  • Ability to work independently with little guidance
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Evidence of proactive approach to initiatives
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $22.10 - $25.00 per hour.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
