Custodian

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and follow basic instructions, safety procedures, product labels, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
• Forklift certification or the ability to pass forklift training is a plus.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 6 months of janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or general facilities maintenance experience required.
• Experience cleaning commercial, industrial, manufacturing, office, healthcare, or educational facilities preferred.
• Experience using cleaning equipment, floor care machines, and janitorial tools.
• Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, chemical handling, and workplace safety procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
• Forklift operation experience preferred.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate professionally and courteously.
• Dependable team player with strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support facility projects as needed.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 100 pounds using carts or dollies.
• Frequent walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and standing throughout the shift.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye and hearing protection.
• Comfortable working around cleaning chemicals, dust, heat, cold, fumes, and other industrial environmental conditions.
• Ability to safely perform physical work in a fast-paced facility environment.

Job Duties

• Perform custodial and facility maintenance duties to maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, strip, wax, and clean floors, offices, common areas, and workspaces.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenish supplies, and maintain cleanliness standards throughout the facility.
• Collect and dispose of trash and waste materials following established procedures.
• Clean windows, glass doors, mirrors, drinking fountains, fixtures, desks, and other facility surfaces.
• Operate manual and powered cleaning equipment to support facility upkeep.
• Respond to emergency cleaning situations, including the safe handling of hazardous or non-standard waste when required.
• Assist with office moves, meeting setups, facility projects, and special assignments.
• Train new team members on custodial procedures, safety practices, and cleaning standards.
• Report maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, and repair needs while supporting a safe and efficient workplace.
