Fullstack Software Engineer, Data Center Manufacturing

Tesla Motors, Inc.
paid holidays, flex time, 401(k)
United States, Texas, Brookshire
Oct 23, 2026
What to Expect

You will be a key builder of the software backbone that powers Tesla's next-generation energy systems from gigafactory automation to AI-driven analytics platforms. As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll design, develop, and scale mission-critical backend systems in Python and Go, while crafting intuitive, reusable front-end experiences that align with Tesla's design language.

Your work will directly enable real-time visibility into manufacturing quality, field reliability, and AI workflows - ensuring data is discoverable, governable, and actionable at scale. You'll own the full lifecycle of systems that support AI inference pipelines, quality data platforms, and internal tools used across factories, service centers, and product development teams.

You'll work closely with data engineers, product managers, and AI team to deliver high-impact solutions that run at Tesla's pace - where reliability, performance, and observability are non-negotiable.

What You'll Do
  • Design and build scalable backend services in Python (Django/Flask/FastAPI) and Go (standard library, Gin/Echo) using REST and gRPC APIs, with strong emphasis on performance, resilience, and security
  • Develop reusable, accessible front-end components using React and modern JavaScript, following Tesla's design standards and ensuring seamless UX across internal tools and dashboards
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitHub Actions, and deploy and manage applications in Kubernetes, with a focus on observability, rollback capability, and zero-downtime releases
  • Own system observability: instrument services with structured logging, metrics (PromQL/MetricsQL), and distributed tracing; visualize performance and health in Grafana and Splunk
  • Build and evolve a data analytics platform with AI context, enabling users and agents to discover, trust, and act on data at scale - with governance, lineage, and access controls
  • Lead code reviews, design documentation, and architectural decisions, ensuring adherence to coding standards, testability, and long-term maintainability
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data engineers, data scientists, and product teams to deliver integrated solutions that bridge data, software, and operational needs
  • Troubleshoot production issues under pressure, using logs, metrics, and tracing to root-cause failures and drive systemic improvements
  • Drive technical excellence by championing best practices in testing, security, scalability, and deployment automation

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience with demonstrable impact in large-scale software systems
  • Strong proficiency in both Python and Go, with hands-on experience building and deploying production-grade services
  • Deep experience with React, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and modern front-end tooling (e.g., Webpack, Vite, TypeScript)
  • Expertise in REST, gRPC, HTTP, AJAX, and JSON - with a focus on API design, versioning, and backward compatibility
  • Proven experience in CI/CD, Kubernetes, and containerized deployment (Docker, Helm, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of observability tooling: Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, MetricsQL/PromQL
  • Familiarity with large-scale system design - including distributed systems, fault tolerance, and horizontal scaling (experience with Java, C++, Rust, or similar is a plus)
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-velocity environments - especially in manufacturing, energy, AI, or hardware-software integration
  • A passion for clean code, system reliability, and delivering measurable impact through software
