Computer Engineer
Purpose:
- Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a Computer Engineer to support the design, integration, and operation of real-time laboratory test systems in our Huntsville, AL engineering facilities.
- The ideal candidate has experience working with hardware/software integration, real-time operating environments, and laboratory test equipment.
Job Description:
- Support the design and development of real-time test and simulation systems.
Integrate hardware components, embedded systems, and laboratory equipment with real-time software environments. - Configure and operate real-time system frameworks, test executives, and simulation tools.
- Develop and maintain software used for system control, data collection, and diagnostic functions.
- Integrate high-speed I/O devices such as PCIe cards into Linux or real-time operating systems.
- Troubleshoot system-level issues involving hardware, software, and interfaces.
- Assist with test planning, execution, data analysis, and reporting.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (hardware, software, test, systems).
- Maintain system documentation, configuration records, and lab procedures.
- Coordinate with vendors and customers for equipment, technical support, and system integration.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and at least 8 years of experience in computer engineering.
- Must have experience with hardware/software integration or real-time systems development.
- Must be proficient in Linux systems.
- Must have programming experience with C/C++ or similar compiled languages.
- Must have the ability to debug hardware/software interoperability issues.
- Must have strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Must have the ability to document designs, procedures, and technical results.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with real-time operating systems or simulation environments, preferred.
- Experience using tools such as GDB, Git, and VS Code (or similar IDEs), preferred.
- Familiarity with integrating instrumentation or test equipment in lab environments, preferred.
- Experience with high-speed I/O interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, etc.), preferred.
Security Requirements:
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Travel Requirements:
- Minimal Travel; 10% or less
- If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
- Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Communicating with others to exchange information
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds
