About This Position

The Operations Manager-Shipping ensures that they pick, scan, and ship orders in an accurate manner. You will make recommendations for improvement in the beforementioned areas.

You will work onsite in the warehouse. You will report to an Operations Manager.

Essential Functions/Main Responsibilities

  • Hire, orient, train and issue corrective action (when applicable) to team members.
  • Prioritize pick tickets according to requested ship dates, cancel dates and required customer satisfaction levels.
  • Ensure that picking and shipping areas are kept in a neat and organized fashion.
  • Develop best practices for picking, scanning and shipping.
  • Help maintain an accurate picking zone by managing product usage and recommending changes to the picking area.
  • Order supplies in areas of responsibility.
  • Communicate expectations to all direct reports, and monitor those expectations versus actual performance. You should provide employees feedback on at least a weekly basis.
  • Determine staffing requirements by analyzing the average number of cartons received per day and the number of cartons that can be processed /day per person. Communicate those needs to the Distribution Center Manager.
  • Work with Distribution Center Manager to develop job descriptions for all direct reports.
  • Take pride in your surroundings by helping maintain a clean workspace.
  • Other responsibilities as determined by our needs.

What You'll Need

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Use multiple software programs including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Macola and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Accomplish instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Communicate and work in a team-oriented atmosphere.
