$18.54 - $30.89 Monday-Friday rotating shifts. One week 7:45am-4:15pm & one week 9am-5:30pm

Children's National Rehabilitation and Specialized Care Center (RSC) provides family-centered medical and therapy services for children from infancy through age 21 with complex medical conditions.

Our inpatient programs deliver transitional medical care and rehabilitation, helping children safely move from acute care settings to home. Our outpatient services extend this care through ongoing, individualized medical and therapy support in a family-focused environment.

What You'll Do:

As a Patient Registrar, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and families, providing a welcoming and compassionate experience while supporting efficient patient access services. You will initiate and maintain both written and electronic medical records, ensuring all patient information is collected accurately and confidentially. Responsibilities include obtaining complete demographic, insurance, and registration information, verifying data for accuracy, and entering information into electronic health record systems in a timely manner. You will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient registrations, supporting smooth clinical operations, and helping ensure patients receive the care they need without delays. Your attention to detail, customer service skills, and commitment to accuracy will contribute to an exceptional experience for patients and families.

What You'll Need:

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED (Required)

Minimum Work Experience

Minimum of one year medical admissions experience (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills.
Bilingual skills strongly preferred.

Functional Accountabilities

  • Operates office equipment, such as voice mail messaging systems, and use word processing, spreadsheet, or other software applications to prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories, or medical records.
  • Receives and routes messages or documents, such as laboratory results, to appropriate staff.
  • Receives payments and record receipts for services.
  • Obtains signature of patient or responsible party giving consent for treatment/testing, release of medical information and assignment of insurance benefits.
  • Hears and resolves complaints from the patients or forwards the patients to the relevant department. Analyzes data to determine answers to questions from customers or members of the public.
  • Maintains confidentiality of health information, both in oral and written formats.
  • Utilizes excellent customer relations and professional skills while interacting with all physicians, payers, referral sources, patient families, employees and visitors.
  • Completes benefits verification.
  • Ensures that all insurance eligibility information is accurate and benefits are verified.
  • Identifies and communicates verification/certification problems and communicates them to the appropriate party, office staff and relevant hospital departments.
  • Works with Patient Accounting as necessary to obtain information needed for billing and to avoid denials.
  • Properly documents all relevant actions into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Records required pertinent information in EMR systems related to the patient's accident or injury.
  • Consistently verifies all demographic information taking full responsibility to make corrections if applicable.
  • Demonstrates competence in utilizing verification and eligibility systems.
  • Manages the appointment reminders for patients.
  • Assists with vendor communication and scheduling.
  • Completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
  • Other job duties: Performs other duties as required.

The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children's National believes an individual's base pay rate will fall for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children's National compensation philosophy. These factors are legitimate and non-discriminatory including, but not limited to, the current market conditions; organizational needs; the individual's combination of prior work experience, level of education, knowledge, skills, and other qualifications. Children's National is committed to providing a fair and competitive total rewards package to each of our employees. This base salary range does not include our comprehensive benefits package or any additional compensation for which this position may be eligible.
