Quality Engineering Specialist

Prolec GE Waukesha is seeking a Quality Engineering Specialist to serve as a technical authority on quality systems, product reliability, and continuous improvement within our large-scale manufacturing operation. In this role, you will lead complex failure investigations, drive root cause analysis efforts, strengthen quality systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to eliminate defects and prevent recurrence. You'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with strict quality standards while ensuring the highest level of product performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead root cause investigations for in-house non-conformances, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) failures, and field-returned failures using advanced methodologies such as 5-Why, Fishbone, and 8D.
  • Conduct detailed forensic analysis of components and assemblies to understand failure modes then implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurrence.
  • Author technical reports that translate complex investigation findings into actionable recommendations for stakeholders across the organization.
  • Analyze quality trends and perform Cost of Quality (COQ) assessments to support data-driven decision making.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean principles and process optimization techniques.
  • Support and enhance ISO 9001 compliance, quality audits, and quality management systems.
  • Define and modify manufacturing processes to optimize efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and leadership teams to resolve complex quality challenges.
  • Develop and deliver training on inspection methods, testing equipment, and quality standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline
  • Excellent written communication with ability to create concise technical reports and investigation summaries.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience leading technical investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions and influence outcomes without direct authority.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical tools and experience leveraging predictive analytics to anticipate quality trends.

Preferred

  • Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing including VSM (Value Stream Mapping), Kaizen events, and SPC (Statistical Process Control) implementation.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau) to drive process improvements.
