Position Title: Maintenance Technician
Wage: $30.00-$40.00/hour Shift: 1st, 2nd, 3rd Hours: 6:00am-2:30pm Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-10:30pm Monday-Friday, 10:00pm-6:30am Monday-Friday QPS Employment Group is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for a great opportunity with a food manufacturing company in Hazelwood, MO. This position is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills who can keep production equipment running safely and efficiently. Maintenance Technician Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Review work orders and maintenance requests to determine required tools, equipment, parts, manpower, and estimated time - Respond to equipment breakdowns and arrive prepared with the appropriate tools and equipment - Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical production equipment - Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation - Observe equipment while operating to identify malfunctions and potential failures - Disassemble mechanical equipment, identify worn or defective components, replace parts, reassemble equipment, and test for proper operation - Use specialized testing equipment to troubleshoot major subsystems and isolate equipment problems - Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and sheet metal work when necessary to repair or fabricate replacement parts - Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment and mechanical systems - Install and maintain new equipment and associated utilities, including electrical, water, gas, and drain lines - Troubleshoot and maintain mechanical equipment, piping systems, electrical controls, and components according to manufacturer specifications and company safety/food safety requirements - Maintain and repair pumps, packaging equipment, slicing equipment, cutting equipment, and other food manufacturing machinery - Maintain accurate maintenance records, activity logs, work orders, and daily reports - Maintain the plant's Master Preventive Maintenance Schedule - Monitor equipment performance and complete repairs in a timely manner to minimize production downtime - Monitor and operate wastewater equipment to ensure plant effluent remains within regulatory requirements - Maintain a clean and organized work area following maintenance activities Safety & Food Safety Responsibilities - Follow all OSHA, GMP, FDA, USDA, GFSI, and company safety and food safety requirements - Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when performing equipment maintenance - Wear all required personal protective equipment and promote safe work practices - Identify and correct safety hazards or report them to management - Report food safety, quality, or regulatory nonconformities - Participate in emergency evacuation procedures and other plant safety programs - Support quality investigations and customer complaint investigations when applicable Continuous Improvement - Participate in plant improvement initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and other continuous improvement programs - Support maintenance initiatives designed to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime - Work closely with production, quality, and management teams to identify opportunities for improvement Maintenance Technician Requirements: - High school diploma/GED and 2+ years of industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance experience, or 4 years of directly related maintenance experience - Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills - Ability to read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals - Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems - Ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment and production machinery - Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance - Ability to use a variety of hand tools and mechanical maintenance equipment - Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with employees at all levels - Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful or emergency situations - Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions - Ability to complete work orders and maintenance documentation - Ability to work additional hours, weekends, and participate in 24/7 on-call coverage as required Preferred: - Technical, vocational, or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Maintenance, or a related field - Experience with high-speed packaging machinery - Industrial electrical and PLC troubleshooting experience - Welding and fabrication experience - Experience working in a sanitary or food manufacturing environment - Knowledge of food manufacturing regulatory requirements - Forklift, Genie lift, scissor lift, or other powered industrial truck experience - Experience with CMMS maintenance software - Microsoft Office experience, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint - Experience with pumps, piping systems, conveyors, slicing/cutting equipment, and automated production equipment IND999 QPS Employment Group is a full-service staffing firm comprised of dedicated and passionate people with over 50 offices throughout the United States.
