OVERVIEW: Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) will work closely with the senior leadership team, managers, and employee-owners to foster an inclusive, high-performing culture at McKim & Creed. This person will be responsible for championing McKim & Creed's employee-owned culture, building the HR team and processes which align with our five core values, as well as develop and execute strategies to recruit, engage, develop and retain top talent. The CHRO should be an experienced leader prepared to strategically scale the organization while maximizing employee engagement. You will oversee the following initiatives: talent acquisition, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, compensation and benefits, compliance and offboarding. You will be a key driver of actualizing initiatives outlined in the Company's 2030 Strategic Plan.

DURING YOUR WORK-DAY YOU WILL

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • LEADERSHIP: Foster a values-driven, high-performing culture, creating and implementing strategies to engage and develop employees throughout their career. Advise the senior leadership team on employee operation strategies, best practices and methodologies. Contribute to the monthly senior leadership team meeting and strategic plan initiatives.
  • HIRING, ONBOARDING, OFFBOARDING: Oversee and manage McKim & Creed's hiring process, including, job requisitions, recruiting strategies, candidate interviews, offer letters, and new hire documentation. Maximize the use of McKim & Creed's applicant tracking system. Facilitate and manage the firm's onboarding experience to ensure all new hires have a positive experience across our footprint. Oversee and manage the offboarding process, including, terminations and employee leave, as well as administer exit interviews. Develop, track and report key performance metrics to measure effectiveness.
  • CHANGE MANAGEMENT: Ensure smooth implementation and adoption of new process and policies and procedures to support firmwide growth and initiatives. Provide expert guidance, communication and training of HR policies and stay current with the latest employee recruitment, engagement and retention trends and best practices. Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records, and representing the organization at hearings.
  • DIVERSITY & INCLUSION: Partner with senior leadership team and employees in support of McKim & Creed's efforts to become a more diverse and inclusive firm. Support planning and development of initiatives to drive improved recruiting strategies and career develop strategies and support of diverse employee-owners.
  • EMPLOYEE LEARNING, DEVELOPMENT & RETENTION: Develop and implement staff learning and development programs in consultation with senior leadership team. Provide performance management guidance and feedback to managers. Collaborate with the senior leadership team to develop training programs to ensure that managers are modeling McKim & Creed's five core values and are developing high-performing teams.
  • COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Study and assess needs and trends; recommend benefit program modifications to management; direct the processing of benefit claims; obtain and evaluate benefit contract bids; award benefit contracts; and design and conduct educational programs on benefit programs. Collaborate with the executive team to manage McKim & Creed's compensation and benefit plans and research and benchmark those plans to ensure McKim & Creed stays competitive within the market.
  • EMPLOYEE RELATIONS: Build trusting relationships with employees, develop effective systems for employees to safely raise concerns, resolve employee relations issues and effectively communicate resolutions quickly, and champion McKim & Creed's unique employee-owned culture.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED



  • A bachelor's degree and at least 15 years of HR leadership experience, preferably in the engineering or surveying industry
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification a plus
  • Experience operating in a values-driven organization in which individuals and teams thrive
  • Proven success leading and implementing change management initiatives and special projects and/or programs
  • Must be outgoing, energetic, organized and assertive
  • Ability to quickly get up to speed on company policies, procedures and databases and acquire an understanding of the company's services, culture and employment opportunities
  • Proven ability to build a high-performing team, influence others and build consensus
  • Aspires to help others be successful and has a strong customer service orientation
  • Experience coaching managers through underperformance, interpersonal conflict and other issues
  • Driven to constantly improve systems and processes including leveraging AI and automation to support mission.
  • Strong listener and collaborative problem solver
  • Microsoft Office and technologically proficient
  • Some travel (10-15%) required
  • Willing to be flexible during work hours to accommodate teams who work early or late
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record required

  • Experience with UKG human capital management system a plus
